What Is Inside Wealthy Affiliate? (Video)
In this video, I am going to give you an inside view of what’s available in Wealthy Affiliate as of June 2019.
Feel like exploring yourself instead of watching?
You can do so by signing up for a free starter account. You will have access to all the features, including the premium ones for the first 7 days.
There are 3 kinds of training available in Wealthy Affiliate:
- Official step-by-step training by Kyle & Carson
- Online Entrepreneur Certification
- Affiliate Bootcamp
- Weekly live training (webinar) by Jay, the official Wealthy Affiliate trainer.
- Ad-hoc tutorials by the community
i. Official Step By Step Training
Once you’ve signed up for the free account, the first thing that they ask you to explore is the Online Entrepreneur Certification – Getting Started Level 1. There are about 10 lessons inside.
As you can see, there are 236K discussion comments inside this tutorial! It’s quite happening in there.
If you have questions when you go through the tutorial, you can always just leave your comments there. Someone will be able to help you out.
By the time you’ve completed the training, you will have a basic understanding of what’s affiliate marketing. You would also have selected a niche and created your very first WordPress website!
Official Training 1 – Online Entrepreneur Certification
Including the level 1 course, there are a total of 5 Certification Courses. You will need to subscribe to premium membership to get access to the other 4 levels.
I’ve screenshot the content here for your reference.
Official Training 2 – Affiliate Bootcamp
This training is for people who are interested in promoting Wealthy Affiliate. It is optional to promote Wealthy Affiliate.
As you can see, because Wealthy Affiliate’s main marketing strategy is through education, Kyle & Carson do spend a lot of their time improving the affiliate marketing training.
ii. Weekly Live Training (Webinar)
There’s a live training available every Friday evening/Monday morning, depending on where you live. It is taught by Jay, who has been an official Wealthy Affiliate trainer for the last 5 years.
He covers a different topic every week.
Some of his training topics include:
- Understanding marketing funnels
- Introduction to YouTube marketing
- Framework – Building Out Your Niche Website
There is also a Live FAQ at the end of the seminar where you can ask him absolutely anything related to that day’s topic.
If you missed out on the live event, you can always watch the replays later. All the webinar are recorded.
I find his training to be rather interesting because he’s a humorous guy and he also has the talent to make complicated topics easy to understand.
iii. Ad-hoc tutorials by the community
As mentioned earlier, having a community of caring affiliate marketers is Wealthy Affiliate’s biggest asset.
Premium members who have been around for a certain amount of time are allowed to create tutorials to fill up the knowledge gap. Members are rewarded based on the relevancy and popularity of the training.
Therefore, if you ever have a topic that is not covered by the official training, there’s a high chance that one of the members has already created a tutorial on it. Some of the exciting tutorials include:
- Email Marketing
- Local Marketing (For Local Businesses)
- Drop Shipping
One thing to take note is that Wealthy Affiliate has a strict no upsells and no spamming rule. Therefore, you don’t ever need to worry about anything like that in Wealthy Affiliate.
2. Website, Hosting & SEO Tools.
Jaaxy Keyword Research Tool
The Jaaxy lite version is included in the Wealthy Affiliate membership. You can use this tool to find out which keywords are easier to rank on search engines.
This is crucial to the success of your website. If your article is listed on the first page of Google for a particular keyword, you will be getting a lot of free organic traffic 24/7!
You can easily create a WordPress website within 30 seconds using the site builder. It’s intuitive and straightforward to use.
You also get to set up 2 free WordPress website on your starter (free) membership under the .siterubix domain.
Premium members can host up to 50 websites on Wealthy Affiliate — 25 websites with your domain, and another 25 websites under siterubix.com domain name.
In Wealthy Affiliate, you only need to worry about your WordPress website. You don’t need to deal with CPanel or any of the server setups.
Wealthy Affiliate has a technical team to handle all your server admin stuff such as regular backups, cyber securities, server system updates etc.
You can sleep well at night, knowing that your website won’t be easily hacked or taken down.
Your website is hosted on one of the world’s best cloud computing. Last I research, Wealthy Affiliate websites are hosted on Amazon’s cloud computing services (AWS).
You won’t have to ever worry about your website’s downtime or bandwidth as you scale your traffic.
3. Community Driven Learning
As mentioned earlier, Wealthy Affiliate is powered by the community of active and helpful affiliate marketers.
Kyle & Carson also did an excellent job of facilitating the process. They make it very easy for you to reach out on the platform. Here are a few ways to network:
Live chat is available 24/7 because Wealthy Affiliate is a global platform. There’s almost always somebody available online to help you out with your affiliate marketing related questions.
The live chat is pretty active throughout the day.
You can message anyone in the system, including the co-founders. I find this cool.
You will also be able to message your mentor, which is the person who introduced you to Wealthy Affiliate.
You’re able to follow people in the system. If they posted any blog updates or questions, you would get an email notification about it.
A blog post is like a status update. Some of the users use it as a way to get feedback, share success stories, or just sharing their thoughts.
There are discussions below every single post, tutorials, webinars, literally everywhere.
If you posted a question that requires feedback, the system would track it, and it will send a notification to others to help answer your question.
So far, I get replies on almost all of my discussion posts within a few hours. This speed shows how active the community is.
The Pros and Cons of Wealthy Affiliate
Pros #1: It’s an All-In-One Platform for Affiliate Marketers
Wealthy Affiliate has everything you need to build a successful niche website. It is especially true for beginners.
If you follow their step-by-step tutorial, you’ll be able to finish identifying your niche website, create good content to attract organic leads, and also start earning affiliate income without having to subscribe to any services that are not available in the platform.
Pros #2: Affordable & Gives More Value Than What You Paid For
For $49/month or $359/year, you get access to:
- Unlimited Tutorials
- Website Hosting
- Research Tools
- Live Support
A decent affiliate marketing course alone would have easily cost you 4 figures.
If you are willing to spend $1000 for affiliate marketing training, this will buy you 3 years in Wealthy Affiliate. There is plenty of time to soak up all the knowledge and at the same time, get all the support you need inside.
Isn’t that cool?
The only other thing that you’d need to pay for is a domain name, which is your website URL. That will cost you about $10 to $15 a year, depending on where you purchased it.
If you don’t have any budget, in the beginning, you can even get started with the free account. You’re still able to create 2 websites, but you won’t have access to some of the training and live support.
Pros #3: Absolutely No Upsell or Spams
Besides that, most courses will have some upsell to get you to join their inner circle (i.e. membership) or to get more training.
There isn’t any upsells in Wealthy Affiliate besides the monthly membership.
They have a pretty strict policy on no upsells and no spammers.
Therefore all the tutorials created inside are pure content. No sales speech, only value.
If someone spams, their account will be banned from communicating for a while.
Pros #4: Community Driven Learning
As you would have realised by now, Wealthy Affiliate a platform created by affiliate marketers, for affiliate marketers.
It doesn’t matter if you’re learning the official training or watching a short tutorial. The community who has legit affiliate marketing experience created all these from personal experience.
The co-founders themselves are pretty active in the community as well. You can regularly see them in the live chat or giving feedbacks in tutorial discussions.
Although they are super busy, you can rest assured that there will be someone in the community helping you out along the way.
You will also be able to bounce ideas with the community 24/7 as it’s a global community, and everyone is looking at the same live chat channel 🙂
Pros #5: Frequently Updated Learning
Even though Kyle and Carson created the training few years back, it is still very relevant today.
One of the main reason is because the tutorials are frequently updated. If you find them to be irrelevant, there’s a button for you to request for updates.
Besides that, their marketing strategy is a white hat strategy. While it may take a while to see results, this is the proper way to create a high traffic website.
The marketing strategy that they taught is evergreen and will not be adversely affected if Google or any other search engines decide to change their algorithm one day.
Cons #1: Long Term Strategy Takes Time
As mentioned earlier, white hat strategy takes time to build.
Now you might be wondering how long.
It really depends on how fast contents are created. Most people will usually take about a year or two before they start seeing substantial results.
Have I seen anyone doing it faster if they work 15 hours a day? Yes, I do. However, it still takes them perhaps half a year for Google search engine to work its magic.
Cons #2: Mainly Focus on SEO
The platform focus heavily on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to get leads.
If you’re looking to try out other affiliate marketing strategies such as sales funnels, email marketing, social media marketing etc, there will be additional services outside of the platform that you will need to subscribe to.
Although some members created tutorials on these alternative ways to do online marketing, it is not the core strength of this platform.
Therefore, if you’re looking to be an Instagram influencer or YouTuber, this may not be the right platform for you to get started.
That being said, if you’re already doing well as an Instagrammer or YouTuber, and are looking to create your own website, this will be a great place for you.
Cons #3: Can’t Promote Your Services
As mentioned earlier, this platform is very sensitive to upsells or spammers.
Therefore, it’s not a good place to promote your services, even if your service is beneficial to the community — for example, graphic designer, website designer, SEO specialist.
That being said, you can still do it discreetly by helping others out with their problems and have them approach you later.
I’ve had a member approaching me that she’d like me to review her website when she’s done with it because she trusts my website development skills. I’ve also helped her many times in the past.
It is OK to promote your services in the personal messages, but do not try to spam everyone inside. Focus on giving value first, and you may get business enquiries.
Cons #4: High Dependency On Wealthy Affiliate
Gary Vaynerchuk once mentioned that if your business is dependent on another website, you should be worried.
Because Wealthy Affiliate is hosting your website, it’s very dangerous not to have full control to your website.
It’s like a double edge sword. On the one hand, you have someone helping you with all the server hassle; On the other hand, you don’t have full control over its fate.
Even though Wealthy Affiliate does an excellent job doing regular backups to your website, I will still download a backup of my website to my computer.
If you’re genuinely anxious about this, you can always host your website elsewhere by subscribing to other web hosting companies.
I am currently using Bluehost as well. They made it intuitive to install WordPress, and it cost only about $6/month.
Cons #5: You Are Accountable To Your Success
If you attended some of the digital marketing or online business related offline workshops, you would most likely go through the training together with a group of people.
You will also need to commit yourself to sit in the classroom for a few days to go through all the learning.
As a result, you’re much more likely to graduate within the set amount of time.
With Wealthy Affiliate, however, you can work on your own pace. Nobody, not even your mentor, is going to stand behind you to make sure that you commit time to learn.
Therefore discipline and self-motivation are critical to your success in Wealthy Affiliate.
Overall, I feel that Wealthy Affiliate has a lot of value to offer for its membership. If you subscribe to the yearly subscription, it will only cost you about $1 per day.
For a platform that gives you everything that you need to be successful, $1 a day seems like a pretty good deal to me.
I signed up for Wealthy Affiliate’s free account 6 months ago and haven’t regretted a day. I upgraded for the premium membership within 7 days and upgraded to a yearly membership within 2 months.
I highly recommend this platform if you’re looking to be a successful affiliate marketer.
They say that to be successful; you need to surround yourself with people who are already successful in the industry you’d like to be in. Wealthy Affiliate allows you to do exactly that. See you there!
